The brown bin is for the recycling of garden waste.
All households in the East Riding now have a brown bin for garden waste.
The brown bins are for the collection of grass cuttings, hedge clippings, plants and flowers, small branches, weeds, leaves, bark and twigs. And please remember no cooked or uncooked food, cardboard, soil, rubble, logs, turf or pet bedding. The collected waste will be composted.
Already these collections have proved very successful reaching an annual tonnage of 6147 tonnes in 2008/09.
Collections
The bins are collected fortnightly March through to December, and four-weekly from December to March. This is in addition to the weekly green bin collection and the four-weekly blue recycling bin collection.
If you'd like to find out the exact date for your brown bin collection please call our customer call centre on 01482 393939 or alternatively email wastewatchers@eastriding.gov.uk quoting your postcode.
